Chapter 1
I. "Called Out to Go Out" What is a Church and what is a Church plant?
The first time the word Church is used in the Bible is found in Acts 2 where after 3000 people were baptized in one day more continued to be added daily to the Church such as should be saved! Can you imagine a group of believers growing everyday with new converts? The term Church in its most basic definition in the Greek is "Ecclesia" which means the "called out ones". In order to join a Church you must first respond to a direct or indirect invitation (call) being led by the Holy Spirit. As one responds to the message of God and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior they come out of darkness (a life without the knowledge or awareness of Jesus) into this marvelous light (a life with, for, and in Jesus). Jesus said He was the "Light of the World" so of we so,ply walk I'm the light (truth) of Gods word (Bible) it will naturally lead us out of the world or what an ancient term calls Babylon or confusion. Those in the same geographic area who all have been "called out" to live a new life in Christ should try to gather together for joint worship, networking, and ministry become the Church or group of called out ones.
Their first assignment is to go out and tell others and invite them to join the called out ones. Indeed we are called out to go out. As Jesus' first words were to his disciples, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matthew
